So you decided to pick up the game of golf. There is plenty to learn about this sport. You may want to start with some golf swing training. After all who wants to look foolish when trying to impress some business colleagues or worse potential investors. The golf course has long been considered a great place to network. No one wants to invite someone they will have to apologize for though.

Just imagine missing the ball three times in a row. Not good. Golf swing training will give you the confidence you need to join the masses. There are many ways to practice. If you are just starting out you may want to read an illustrated book or watch some videos to get the general idea. Once you understand that you can move on. Practicing your golf swing involves getting the motion, direction and speed right. These change for the distance you need to reach. Let us start with direction. Stance comes into play here. Where are you aiming your body? Don’t worry about perfection. At this stage take some swings and see if the ball flies into a consistent direction. If that direction is not the direction you were aiming for, adjust your stance to compensate for the difference.

Motion and speed go hand in hand. Once you have the general idea of what you need to do, you need to train your muscles so it becomes automatic. This is where golf swing training comes in. Practice the correct method over and over until your muscles have learned it. After all, if you have to concentrate on your swing all the time, networking will never happen. You need to free your brain to allow it to connect to your golf partners. How much practice you need depends on your ultimate goal.

The final ingredient to a proper swing is concentration so you will want to add mental training to your golf swing training. In many disciplines your ability to focus during any conditions is more important than the actual execution of the task at hand. Train your mind to concentrate. Learn to watch for the most minute detail. There are training aids for this as well. Not all of these are golf specific but if you learn to focus your mind on any task, you can focus on your swing too. Imagine the pressure the pros are under, having to hit that birdie with millions watching.
